Yesterday I noticed Typecho on someone’s blog and decided on a whim to switch. Here is how I migrated the database.
-
Step One
- First, back up your existing database. I will not go into the method here.
-
Step Two
- After backing up the database, remove the previous website and download Typecho from http://typecho.org/, or from GitHub: https://github.com/typecho/typecho. Upload the files to your server with FTP. The installation steps are on the official website, so I will skip them here.
-
Step Three
- Now the important part: find the WordPress-to-Typecho plugin on the official site (http://docs.typecho.org/plugins/wordpress-to-typecho).
-
Step Four
-
Upload it to /usr/plugins and open the administration panel.
-
Open Plugin Management from the Console dropdown.
-
Activate the wordpresstotypecho plugin.
-
Click Settings for the wordpresstotypecho plugin.
-
Fill in the database, username, and other information, then save.
-
Select Import Data from WordPress, which appears in the Console dropdown.
-
Complete the import. If it fails, check your database settings and other configuration. You can disable the plugin after importing without affecting other features.
-
-
Step Five
- If the import fails, you can remove unused database tables. On my Alibaba Cloud server, I imported the previous backup into the current tables (note that the table prefixes differ). Then fill in the plugin configuration and run the conversion.
