Why read

Editorial reading note

The checked portions are Abstract; Specification in the pinned version. The original title is Permit Extension for EIP-20 Signed Approvals.

permit lets a signed message change ERC20 allowance alongside direct approve calls. It adds permit, nonces and DOMAIN_SEPARATOR. A successful permit sets the allowance, increments the owner's nonce and emits Approval, subject to deadline, nonzero owner, nonce and signature conditions. Check an authorization's amount, signer and validity conditions together; avoiding a direct approve call does not remove authorization risk.

These notes explain normative requirements; they are not a full reading, implementation verification or security audit and do not establish implementation compliance.
